The users of Coinbase Wallet could now be able to transfer digital currencies to "short human-friendly addresses," in addition to the ones which were created with the help of Ethereum Name Service (ENS).

On Tuesday Siddharth Coelho-Prabhu, the product lead declared that Coinbase Wallet now supported personalized wallet usernames for transferring digital currencies, except the traditional long ones like "0x89136a83664fa0673930be34463e444260775dc".

The Customizable Address Will Make The Privacy Better
According to a blog post by Coelho-Prabhu, they believed these developments would make digital currencies much simpler to use and help encourage adoption among a larger mainstream audience.

Sent live Tuesday, customers could transfer digital currencies by asking receivers for their Wallet usernames such as "@walletfan" and use them as the transferring addresses. There was also an advantage to keep usernames private.

Coinbase Wallet allowed a user to send all cryptocurrencies backed by it including Litecoin, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum Classic, Ethereum, XRP, Dogecoin, Stellar Lumens and all ERC20 tokens (including DAI and USDC).

A Support From Ethereum Name Service (ENS)
The short usernames were a better option as did not replace 16-digit addresses of the Wallet but rather provided a more customer-friendly representative that sat on top of the original address. A customer could send cryptocurrencies with the help of associated username, instead of typing the complete wallet address.

The fresh support also included an alliance with the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), enabling Coinbase Wallet customers to transfer digital currencies to .eth addresses.

Beginning in 2018, Coinbase Wallet has provided customers with a service to transfer and store digital currencies to one another. Since August 2019, customers were able to make use of a web feature which was decentralized.

Coelho Prabhu validated that all digital currencies backed by the app, including ether, bitcoin and XRP could now be sent with the help of the new username feature.

This is very nice of them. People usually make a mistake when it comes to payments solely because the address is too long and random. You can't always check all of the characters before submitting a payment. Very big thumbs up for Coinbase!
