Here the Comparison between ASP.NET vs PHP
ASP.NET is a paid Microsoft provided web application framework whereas PHP is server-side scripting language which is open source.
ASP.NET has a license cost associated with it whereas PHP is open source and freely available.

I am PHP developer and working from 5+ years, due to its opensource and easy to learn curve.
But I will recommend Node.JS. You can develop complete applications, websites (front-end, back-end) using same programming language (JavaScript).
