This all depends on the content focus and how much promotion you put into your site, this will vary.

My best advice? Facebook Groups (without spamming)
Asking others to share your content on social media.
Focusing on what your readers want to view.

Using AdSense or something similar on a blog, how much traffic/income would you say you need to make it worth your while?

Yes, it's very individual and so forth, but how much of an income would you personally think would be enough for you and the time you put into it?

The traffic needed to make substantial income on your blog with AdSense (or similar) will depend on few factors. Here are some of thos things that may determine what you will earn:
1. Your website niche market: On Google AdSense, some business sectors pay more when they advertise than the others; this mainly depend on the keyword that the person is promoting. For example, people you pay more to promote "SEO niche market" promotion than "news website". In a word, your website niche market may determine your revenue from Adsense and others.

2. Your target location: If your blog target audience from some high rating countries, you will likely to earn more than if it target not so rated countries.

I hope this helps a bit. Thank you.
